Gaza

Gaza responds to the daily reports of civilian death. An injured woman meets the viewer's eyes directly, without narrative resolution, her face a site of witness rather than illustration, while the city behind her dissolves into smoke. By isolating one figure, the painting resists the abstraction of mass suffering and insists on a single presence inside collective catastrophe. The slow work of painting counters the speed at which images of violence are consumed and forgotten.
